In line with the gas boiler ban, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers grants for installing heat pumps and biomass boilers.

This initiative marks our commitment to net zero emissions, facilitating a shift from traditional heating systems to more sustainable alternatives.

Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible for a grant if you:

• Own the property you’re applying for
• Have installed (or plan to install) your new heating system on or after 1 April 2022
• Are replacing fossil fuel heating systems (such as oil, gas or electric)

You will still be eligible for a grant if you have already spent money to make your property more energy efficient.

Additional Information

The scheme is scheduled to run until 2028. In September 2023, the UK government announced an increase in the BUS grant amount for air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps, up from £5,000 and £6,000, respectively. Active from 23rd October 2023, recipients will now receive up to £7500.
